Occupational Health Monitoring Q&A

What is occupational health monitoring?

Occupational health monitoring is a broad menu of services that evaluates and monitors employee health and safety in the workplace. North Star Clinic provides comprehensive occupational health monitoring for employers and employees ranging from the self-employed to government employees.

What services does occupational health monitoring include?

North Star Clinic offers all of the following occupational health monitoring services.

Physicals

Physicals cover a broad spectrum of specific needs, including Department of Transportation (DOT) and commercial driver’s license (CDL) physicals, Coast Guard physicals, pre-employment physicals, and more.

Every employer has their own unique requirements for physicals, so North Star Clinic always verifies the particular goals for the exam with you ahead of time.

Drug and alcohol screenings

North Star Clinic offers urinalysis to detect drug use and breath tests to detect alcohol use.

They’re one of the only facilities on the entire Olympic Peninsula to offer occupational drug and alcohol testing. They offer fast processing times and quick scheduling to local employers and their employees.

Tuberculosis testing

Many different industries require tuberculosis testing as a condition of employment. Tuberculosis spreads in close quarters, so people who work in institutions such as medical facilities, correctional facilities, and shelters often need this type of occupational testing.

OSHA respirator fit testing

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires people who use a respirator in their job to undergo respirator fit testing at least once a year.

This test involves checking the seal to make sure that you’re able to breathe and function while staying safe. After OSHA respirator fit testing, you’re approved to use the same specific type of respirator at work until your next fit testing appointment.

North Star Clinic can tailor testing and services based on any organization's occupational health monitoring needs.

Is occupational health monitoring part of a concierge membership?

North Star Clinic provides most medical care on a concierge medicine basis, but occupational health monitoring is separate from concierge care. You can access occupational health monitoring whether you’re a concierge member or not; these visits are not included in your concierge membership.
