How do I get tested at North Star Clinic?
Please schedule an appointment by calling our office at 360-344-8146, option 2. We are unable to accept walk-ins or emailed scheduling requests at this time.
How far in advance do I need to schedule my test?
We recommend scheduling at least 1-2 days ahead, although same day appointments may be available.
If I come in early, will I get my PCR test result sooner?
It depends on the type of test you receive. If you have chosen the laboratory PCR test, please note that processing time is 24-48 hours from receipt of specimen at the laboratory.
Do I need a Physician's order?
Our onsite provider orders the tests in most circumstances. However, if your test is for a procedure, we do require your ordering provider's office to send an order before we schedule your appointment.
Which laboratory do you work with?
Our PCR testing is through NW Laboratory, located in Bellingham, Washington. For more information, visit their website: https://www.nwlaboratory.com/
How do I receive the results of my test?
We will upload a copy to your Patient Portal. We do process results during weekends and holidays.
Do you test travelers going to Canada?
Yes, Canada currently accepts the results of either our rapid or laboratory PCR test (please note, Canada's requirements are subject to change.)
Do you test travelers going to Hawaii?
Unfortunately, the state of Hawaii only accepts test results from certain laboratories and the lab we work with has not yet been accepted.
If I've been vaccinated, will it affect my test results?
It will make it less likely that you get a positive result. The vaccine will never cause a PCR or antigen test to be positive.
How is the specimen collected?
Our collections are made via shallow nasal swab. We are not offering saliva tests.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 6 hours notice in advance of cancellation. Appointments cancelled with less than 6 hours notice may be subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee.
Do I have to be an established patient at North Star Clinic to get tested?
We have waived concierge membership requirements for all Covid-19 related services. Testing is available whether or not you reside in Jefferson County. Please note, however, that Covid-19 testing does not establish a primary care relationship with the provider nor is it a substitute for medical care.
